It takes three and half hours by fast catamaran ferry to get from Buenos Aires to Montevideo. You arrive in a small town in a small country tucked away at the southern edge of the world.

They go mad for football, the beaches are great and if you want a barbeque in smiling company………………….boy!

At night what street lamps there are glow dimly with a soft light, and the few people on the street pass quietly through the shadows. Every fifteen minutes a car might roll past.

But in a quiet corner of this quiet southern town there is a door. And beyond that door lies another world of blazing cacophony. It’s a world created by Marcos who learned his trade in New York and it’s a world of never ending mayhem.

I spent two of the most enjoyable nights of my life there, or were they days? Time does strange things in the Clashcityrockers Bar. It speeds up and it slows down. But however fast it goes, it goes with a bang. And they really did mix cocktails named after me!

Now I’m half a world away, telling myself: “going back there one day”. Hopefully soon.
