The first lock down was fine. A bit frustrating reorganising gigs just to see them cancelled again, and our last album “Don’t Blame Yourself” didn’t really get the push from live shows it deserved. There was no football but the May weather was lovely and the air clean from no cars on the road. Eventually it was over. I put the whole family in a car, dogs and all, and headed south to the Catalan coast of France where I go whenever I can. What followed was one of the most dream like, happy periods of my life. In the open air of the beach people were less fearful and we lived day to day with not a care. But eventually July passed to August and September into October. The sea turned cold and we had to come back to England for a happy reason: my daughter discovered she was pregnant and said: “Dad. I really need to get a hospital check up”.
I’ve been determined to hang onto a bit of that spirit of “Don’t worry, be happy, be kind”.
